These Website and Application Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply when you visit purplecarrot.co.za, contact Purple Carrot through the website or submit an online application.
Important: Submitting an online application is an application for consideration only. It does not guarantee admission, reserve a place, create a student-enrolment agreement, authorise a debit order or make any person a surety. If an applicant is accepted, enrolment, tuition, payment, cancellation, conduct and any suretyship will be dealt with in separate written documents.

2. Acceptance and scope
By using the website, you agree to these Terms. If you submit an application on behalf of another person, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that you have explained the application and relevant privacy information to them.
These Terms govern the website and application process. They do not replace a course-specific prospectus, written quotation, acceptance letter, enrolment agreement, code of conduct, fee schedule, payment arrangement, workplace-training agreement or suretyship. Those documents apply only when separately provided and properly accepted.
3. Definitions
- Applicant means a person applying to study at Purple Carrot.
- Application means the online form, information and supporting documents submitted for consideration.
- Course means a programme, qualification, short course or other training offered by Purple Carrot.
- Student means an applicant who has been formally accepted and enrolled under a separate enrolment agreement.
- You means the website visitor, applicant or person submitting information through the website.
- Purple Carrot, we, us or our means Purple Carrot School of Culinary Arts (Pty) Ltd.
4. Website and course information
We try to keep website and course information accurate and current. Course names, content, duration, dates, entry requirements, awarding or accreditation arrangements, fees and availability may change. Information on the website is a general guide unless it is expressly included in a current written quotation, acceptance letter or enrolment agreement issued to you.
Accreditation, registration, awarding and certification arrangements differ by course. Applicants should review the information for the selected course and may ask Purple Carrot for the relevant body, status and verification details before enrolling.
If website information conflicts with a current course-specific document issued directly to you, please ask us to clarify the difference in writing before making payment or signing an enrolment agreement.
5. Online applications
You must provide information that is accurate, complete and not misleading to the best of your knowledge. You should review the application, correct mistakes and use the Back controls where necessary before selecting “Submit Application”.
After submission, Purple Carrot may:
- Acknowledge receipt of the application.
- Request missing, updated or original documents.
- Verify relevant information or qualifications where authorised.
- Invite the applicant to an interview or assessment.
- Request further information reasonably required for admission or student support.
- Accept, decline or place an application on a waiting list, subject to applicable law and fair admissions practices.
An automated email or on-screen confirmation only confirms that the website received a submission. It is not an acceptance letter and does not reserve a place.
6. Applicants under 18
An applicant who is under 18 must have the involvement and consent of a competent parent or guardian. Purple Carrot may require the parent or guardian to verify their authority and complete separate enrolment, consent, financial or emergency documents.
A minor’s online application does not by itself create financial liability for a parent or guardian.
7. Supporting documents
Online document uploads are optional unless Purple Carrot later tells you that a particular document is required to complete the assessment. Uploaded documents must be clear, relevant, lawful and free from malicious software.
You confirm that you are entitled to supply each uploaded document and any personal information it contains. Do not upload original identity documents, bank-card information, passwords or information unrelated to the application.
8. Application fees and payments
If an application fee applies, its current amount, purpose, payment method and refund or cancellation treatment must be disclosed to you before payment. Fees may differ between courses or application periods. Do not rely on an outdated brochure or document when making payment. Ask Purple Carrot for the current written fee information if anything is unclear.
The online application form does not collect bank-account details, create a debit-order mandate or bind a person responsible for fees. Payment arrangements are concluded separately after acceptance where applicable.
Nothing in these Terms limits any non-excludable right or remedy under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 or other applicable law.
9. Acceptance and enrolment
An applicant becomes eligible to enrol only after receiving written confirmation from Purple Carrot and satisfying the stated admission requirements. A place is secured only in the manner described in the current acceptance and enrolment documents.
Before enrolment, the applicant and any relevant parent, guardian, sponsor or account payer should receive and review the applicable:
- Course description, duration and entry requirements.
- Accreditation, awarding and certification information.
- Complete fee schedule, including what is and is not included.
- Deposit, instalment, interest and examination-fee terms, if applicable.
- Cancellation, refund, deferment and termination terms.
- Code of conduct, attendance and academic requirements.
- Practical-training, workplace or internship requirements.
- Separate consent, guardian, payment, debit-order or suretyship documents where applicable.
No suretyship or co-principal debtor obligation is created by using the website or ticking an online consent checkbox. Any suretyship must be presented separately and accepted in the legally required manner.
10. Course scheduling and changes
Courses may depend on minimum enrolment, lecturer availability, accreditation or examination schedules, venue availability, safety requirements and circumstances beyond reasonable control. Purple Carrot may make reasonable changes to dates, timetables, venues, delivery methods, lecturers or course content while seeking to preserve the essential nature and learning outcomes of the course.
If Purple Carrot cancels or materially changes a course after enrolment, the applicable enrolment agreement and consumer law will govern available alternatives, credits or refunds.
11. Electronic communications and records
You agree that we may communicate about an enquiry or application using the email address, telephone number or communication preference supplied. You are responsible for keeping those details accurate and monitoring the relevant inbox or number.
You may store or print these Terms and any confirmation sent to you. Electronic records may be retained as evidence of submissions, consents and communications, subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
12. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the website unlawfully, fraudulently or to impersonate another person.
- Submit false, misleading, defamatory, infringing or malicious content.
- Upload malware or attempt to interfere with the website, forms, server or security controls.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to applications, student information or administrative systems.
- Copy, scrape or reuse website content for commercial purposes without permission.
We may restrict access, reject malicious submissions or report suspected unlawful activity where reasonably necessary.
13. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the website, branding, photographs, videos, written content, course descriptions, graphics and downloadable materials are owned by or licensed to Purple Carrot and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
You may view, download or print website content for personal, non-commercial use relating to an enquiry or application. No other reproduction, adaptation, publication, distribution or commercial use is permitted without prior written permission.
14. Third-party websites and services
The website may link to or embed third-party maps, videos, social-media pages, payment services, booking services, accreditation bodies or other resources. Purple Carrot does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their availability, content, security or privacy practices. Their own terms and policies apply.
15. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy. By submitting information, you confirm that you have read that policy and that any consent given is voluntary and informed.
16. Availability and security
We take reasonable steps to keep the website available and secure, but uninterrupted or error-free access cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, connectivity failures, cyber incidents, third-party failures or events beyond reasonable control may temporarily affect the website.
If you believe an application did not submit correctly, contact us and do not repeatedly send sensitive documents unless requested.
17. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Website content is provided for general information about Purple Carrot and its courses. To the extent permitted by law, Purple Carrot is not liable for loss caused solely by reliance on outdated or incomplete general website information where current details were reasonably available from us on request.
Purple Carrot does not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot be excluded under consumer-protection law, or liability arising from gross negligence, fraud or wilful misconduct.
You remain responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of information and documents you submit and for loss directly caused by your unlawful or malicious use of the website.
18. Complaints and disputes
Please send a complaint or dispute to thea@purplecarrot.co.za with enough detail for us to investigate. We will try to resolve it in good faith within a reasonable time.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from approaching the National Consumer Commission, the Information Regulator, an applicable ombud or alternative dispute-resolution body, or a court with jurisdiction.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute will be dealt with by a South African court or tribunal with jurisdiction, subject to any right you may have under applicable consumer law.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the website, application process or law changes. The version displayed when you submit an application applies to that online submission. Material changes will not retrospectively create new payment, enrolment or suretyship obligations.
21. General
If a provision of these Terms is unlawful or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply. A failure or delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of that right.
